5 Keys To An Amazing Week
If you're like me, the last thing you want to think about on a Monday morning is what makes a great week. Most of us have big goals and dreams that we're working towards, but it's easy to lose sight of them as life gets busy or stressful.
But here's some good news: If you don't have time for self-care this week, I'm going to make things easy for you (and not in a way that involves Netflix and chocolate). In fact, I'm going to give you five keys that will help make this week amazing—and beyond!
So let's get started...
Make it a great week.
Now that you’ve got your week planned and ready to go, it’s time to make the most of it.
There are a few things you can do at the start of a new week to ensure that each day is more productive than the last:
-
Make sure your goals are set. If you don’t have any goals yet, now is a great time to start working on them! You can write down what they are in this handy little document I made especially for this purpose (it also includes some other helpful tips).
-
Plan ahead so nothing slips through the cracks. This is where those lists come into play. Keep track of anything important or potentially stressful during the week by writing it down on one of these lists (or even better—multiple lists!) then cross off each task as it gets done so that everything gets crossed off eventually! And if there's something still left over when Friday rolls around? Great! It means Friday will be easier than ever before since all those pesky little things get done beforehand! Plus now there's plenty more time for relaxing...
You can't believe everything you read or hear.
“I can't believe everything I read in the newspaper.”
This is a good rule to live by, but it's not quite enough. You need to take skepticism one step further and be open to new ideas and perspectives. The world can be a very strange place, full of people with different beliefs, experiences and ways of thinking. If you don't allow yourself the space to learn more about these things—even if they seem ridiculous or far-fetched—you'll never be able to grow as an individual and become a more interesting person in general.
Reading other perspectives boosts your creativity.
Reading other perspectives can help you see things from a different perspective. This is especially true when you read something that’s radically different than your own point of view, or when you read something that is in some way opposed to what you believe. In these situations, it will be very easy for you to simply dismiss the author as being an idiot or just plain wrong. However, if instead of reacting with such hostility, try asking yourself “what would this person say if they were here right now?”
In addition to helping us understand others more deeply, reading other people's words can also help us solve problems we might not have been able to think through on our own. For example: I had no idea how much money I needed for retirement until someone else told me their story and showed me just how much was available out there! And finally - reading other perspectives can help us find inspiration for our own work! Maybe someone else has already done something similar in another field; maybe they've made mistakes along the way so they could share what they learned from those mistakes with others (like me!).
Treat yourself well and watch your life change.
Treat yourself well and watch your life change.
I’m all about taking care of myself, so this isn’t just a cliche to me—it’s my credo. I do all sorts of things that nourish me on a daily basis, like:
-
Reading books by black authors like Octavia Butler and Ta-Nehisi Coates, who have helped shape my voice as a writer and thinker.
-
Taking time for myself by going for walks in nature or meditating with beautiful music in the background (like this).
-
Putting on face masks from time to time (I love Dr. Jart+ products).
-
Treating my body like it deserves to be treated by eating healthy foods most days of the week (a challenge for me), working out regularly at home or at the gym, getting enough sleep (which means turning off electronic devices after 9pm), drinking lots of water each day…
You can have an amazing week by choosing to do so and by taking a few simple steps to make it happen.

Being positive is a choice you make about how you want to see the world, including yourself and the people around you. When you look for the good in others, it makes them happier and causes them to be more likely to do good things for you too! When you look for the good in yourself, it helps build self-confidence and self-esteem which leads to being happier overall!
Hopefully it's clear by now that you don't need to wait for the perfect week to come along. Instead, you can choose to have an amazing week right now. You may even notice that once you start treating your days as if they were already amazing—and acting accordingly—your life begins to change in ways that are hard to describe but easy to feel. So get out there and live your best life!
